A Very Special Matzo Cover

User Ratings: ****No Star

WHAT YOU NEED
  • 2 yards of white fabric
  • 2 yards of decorative ribbon
  • 2 yards of 4 inch wide white silky ribbon
  • Craft tacky glue
  • Fabric paint
  • Paint brush
  • Pencil

HOW TO DO IT
  • Cut the fabric into four 18 inch x 13 1/2 inch sheets.

  • Stack the fabric sheets on top of each other and glue all four corners together.

  • Fold one 13 1/2 inch piece of silky ribbon in half, lengthwise. Glue it along one of the 13 1/2 inch sides of the fabric, front and back, to create the closed end of the Matzo Cover, enclosing all four fabric sheets.

  • Fold the two 18 inch pieces of silky ribbon in half lengthwise and glue them to the front and back of the 18 inch sides, enclosing all four fabric sheets.

  • Fold the remaining two 13 1/2 inch pieces of ribbon lengthwise. Glue 1 piece to the top fabric sheet only and glue one piece to the back fabric sheet only. This will create 3 pockets for the matzo.

  • Glue the two 12 1/2 inch pieces of decorative ribbon to the top and bottom of the Cover, overlapping the silky ribbon by 1 inch.

  • Glue the two 17 inch pieces of decorative ribbon down each side, overlapping the silky ribbon by 1 inch.

  • Using the template, trace the Hebrew letters and decorative flower border onto the front of the Cover.

  • Fill in the letters and border using fabric paint and paint brush.

  • Let dry overnight before using.

TIPS
  • If your fabric is thin, you may want to place a newspaper or other paper inside the pocket of the Matzo Cover so the paint does not bleed through
