WHAT YOU NEED

  • 4 - 4.23 oz. NESTLÉ JUICY JUICE drink boxes
  • 4 sheets of construction paper
  • 1 sheet of foam core (available at craft and art stores)
  • Safety scissors
  • 1 utility knife (available at craft stores)
  • Cellophane tape
  • Glue stick
  • Paint pens or colored markers
  • 2 - 1/8 inch dowel rods
  • 1 - 1 hole punch
  • 1/8 inch wide ribbon

HOW TO DO IT
  • Wash and dry four empty NESTLÉ JUICY JUICE drink boxes.

  • Cut out a 6-1/2 inch by 3-1/2 inch rectangle from each sheet of construction paper.

  • Flip up the side flaps on each of the juice boxes, and use a 1 hole punch to make a hole in the center of each flap.

  • Wrap each box with the construction paper rectangles, and secure with cellophane tape.

  • Using safety scissors, help your child cut out picture of four of his or her friends that fits inside the 1-3/4 by 3-1/2 inch surface of the juice box.

  • Use a glue stick to adhere one picture to the wide side of each of the juice boxes.

  • With a paint pen or colored marker, help your child write their friend's name next to each photo.

  • (PARENTS ONLY) Use a utility knife to cut out the foam core triangles according to the template directions.

  • Insert the dowel rods as indicated on the diagram.

  • Glue the two triangles together. They should be perpendicular to one another so that the dowel rods criss-cross to form the mobile (see diagram).

  • Cut two pieces of ribbon into 15 inch pieces, and two more into 25 inch pieces.

  • String a piece of ribbon through the holes punched in the box flaps and suspend the boxes from the ends of the dowel rods. You may want to add a dab of glue to the ribbon after tying it to the dowel rod so that it doesn't slip.

  • Print out the Friendship Mobile signs from the template.

  • Give your child crayons or colored markers to color the front and back of the "My Friends" sign.

  • Cut out each sign. Then place one of the signs onto a small sheet of foam core and trace the sign pattern onto the foam core.

  • (PARENTS ONLY) Use a utility knife to cut out the foam core sign.

  • Glue one colored "My Friends" sign to each side of the foam core, making sure to match the edges.

  • Use a 1-hole punch to make a hole just above the word "My" in the finished "My Friends" sign.

  • Thread a 10-inch length of ribbon through the hole in the sign and connect the sign to the hole in the bottom foam board triangle (see diagram).

  • String a piece of ribbon, 6 inches in length, through the top hole of the top foam board triangle and tie into a loop to form the mobile's hanger.

  • Your Friendship Mobile is now ready to be displayed in a special spot in your child's room.

TIPS
  • If the pictures your child has chosen are too small to use on the mobile, they can be taken to a #169 store to be enlarged.

FOLLOW UP FUN
  • Help your child make special little gifts to give to friends on Friendship Day, such as Friendship Box Frames and Special Friendship Bracelets.

  • Start a School Friends scrapbook for your child. You might include your child's class picture and each school picture that they collect. Have them write the child's name next to the picture and include a short paragraph with special thoughts about that child.
