User Ratings: ****No Star

Invitations

WHAT YOU NEED
  • 1 invitation for each guest
  • Small cardboard tubes (1 for each invitation)
  • 1 can of red spray paint
  • 1 package of red tissue paper
  • 1 sparkly silver pipe cleaner for each invitation
  • Crayons or colored markers

HOW TO DO IT
  • Print one invitation for each guest.

  • Use crayons or markers to color each invitation.

  • Spray-paint the tubes red to make a fire-cracker invitation. (Do this in a well-ventilated outdoor area)

  • Roll up the invitation and insert it inside the painted tube.

  • Stuff each end with red tissue paper.

  • Add a sparkly silver pipe cleaner to one end of the tube for the fuse.

  • Hand-deliver the invitations.

DECORATING IDEAS

Stars & Stripes
Everything goes that is red, white, and blue! Flags and stars put everyone in a festive mood! A red or blue striped tablecloth, plates and napkins along with red, white and blue streamers make for a perfect party setting!

FUN FOOD IDEAS
Traditional 4th of July food fare includes barbequed hot dogs and hamburgers, baked beans, fruit salad, and watermelon. Here are a few additional festive treats!

Patriotic Eggs
How can any snack be more American!

WHAT YOU NEED
  • Deviled Eggs
  • Small American Toothpick Flags
HOW TO DO IT
  • Prepare Deviled Eggs according to your favorite recipe.
  • Insert a small American Flag into the center of each finished egg.

Juice in a Wheelbarrow
Easy access and a festive look help drink boxes stay cool and refreshing!
  • Fill a red wheelbarrow with ice and put plenty of LIBBY'S JUICY JUICE boxes inside to stay chilled throughout the party!

Watermelon Seeds
Crunchy, sweet watermelon, yum! Enjoy the melon and make predictions too!

WHAT YOU NEED
  • 1 watermelon slice for each guest (not seedless)
  • 1 Watermelon Seed Guess Sheet for each guest
  • Several tubes of craft glue
  • Markers or crayons
HOW TO DO IT
  • Give each guest a slice of watermelon.

  • Ask guests to guess how many seeds are in their slice.

  • Give them a Watermelon Seed Guess Sheet to record their guess.

  • Let them enjoy their watermelon. As they find a seed, have them set it aside.

  • Invite everyone to glue their seeds to the watermelon picture and record the actual number of seeds in their slice.

  • They may also color the watermelon if desired.

PARTY FUN
Guests will get a bang out of these dynamite party games!

SUMMER PARTY SEARCH
A great ice breaker and fun way to have the guests interact!

WHAT YOU NEED
  • Paper slips
  • Blindfolds (optional)
HOW TO DO IT
  • Play this game in a large open area.

  • Write the name of one of four teams on separate slips of paper. The team names are "Firecrackers," "Birthday Cake," "Watermelon," and "Canoe Paddles."

  • Tell the guests the sound for each team; Firecrackers will boom, Birthday Cake will sing the birthday song, Watermelon will say "Crunch, munch" and Canoe Paddles will say, "Splish, splash."

  • Have guests stand anywhere in the playing area. Then distribute a labeled paper slip to each guest, instructing them not to tell anyone what is written on it.

  • Have guests close their eyes or wear blindfolds and walk through the area, making their noise, until they find other members of their team.

  • When team members find one another, they hold hands and begin to look for other team members.

  • Continue until everyone has found his or her team.

FIRECRACKER ROLL
A Juicy Juice bottle does more than just serve delicious juice, it can be a firecracker, too!

WHAT YOU NEED
  • 2 LIBBY'S JUICY JUICE plastic bottles
  • Red paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Sparkle pipe cleaners
  • Red, yellow, and orange tissue-paper or crepe paper strips
  • Tape
  • Chalk or masking tape
  • 2 paper-towel or wrapping-paper tubes
HOW TO DO IT
  • In advance, paint two JUICY JUICE bottles red. Tape a sparkle pipe cleaner to each lid, and tissue-paper or crepe-paper strips to the other end to make firecrackers.

  • Draw a chalk line or tape a line to mark a starting and turn-around line on the ground approximately 12 feet apart.

  • Divide the guests into two equal teams.

  • Give the first person in each team the "firecracker" and a paper-towel or wrapping-paper tube.

  • Have each team member roll the firecracker with the tube from the starting line to the turn-around line and back and then pass the tube to the next player.

  • If a player kicks the firecracker, he or she must go back to the starting line and begin again.

  • Continue the relay until everyone has had a turn.
TIPS
  • To make the game easier, have guests roll the firecracker to the finish line and then carry it back.

LEMONADE STAND RELAY
A typical scene during summer is a lemonade stand. This time participants will have to pour and carry quickly!

WHAT YOU NEED
  • 2 unbreakable pitchers
  • 2 large cans or buckets
  • 2 plastic cups
  • Water
  • Masking tape
HOW TO DO IT
  • Play this game outdoors. In advance, place a piece of tape at the same level on each team's can or bucket to represent a "full" line.

  • Divide the group into two equal teams.

  • Place each team's marked container at the head of a line as a starting point.

  • Approximately 12 feet away from each container, place a water-filled pitcher.

  • Give a cup to the first player on each team.

  • At a signal, have the first players run to their pitchers, pour a cup of "lemonade," run back to the starting point, and pour the water into the marked container. The first player then hands the cup to the second player. Continue the relay until one team fills the container to the full line.

4th CELEBRATION BOX
A memory game will have them thinking red, white and birthday!

WHAT YOU NEED
  • Patriotic and festive items such as a flag, fireworks, stars, a pinwheel, an Uncle Sam, a teddy bear with a patriotic ribbon
  • A festive box decorated with stars and stripes
  • Large sack
  • Small prizes or treats
HOW TO DO IT
  • Place the patriotic items in a decorated box on a table in front of the guests.

  • Choose two or three volunteers to turn away from the table and close their eyes.

  • Have one guest remove two or three items from the collection and place them in a sack.

  • Have the volunteers turn around and take turns guessing which items are missing from the Celebration Box.

  • Award a prize for each correct guess.

  • Continue until each child wins a prize.
Initial Cup
  • For older guests, instead of calling for volunteers to turn away, take the entire box away after letting the guests study the contents for a few minutes. Have them record as many items as they can remember from the box.

FLAMING FIRECRACKERS
Guests will enjoy their very own "firecracker" to wave while watching fireworks or singing patriotic songs!

WHAT YOU NEED
  • 9 x 12-inch white or blue construction paper
  • Red crayons
  • 18-inch strips of red, white and blue crepe paper
  • tape
HOW TO DO IT
  • Have guests color the edge of a sheet of construction paper.

  • Ask them to gather several strips of crepe paper and cut them into thin sections to 1 inch from the bottom.

  • Have them tape the strips to one corner of the construction paper on the side without crayon decorations.

  • Have them roll the construction paper into a cylinder, from the corner where the crepe paper is taped to the opposite corner.

  • Guests then secure the firecracker with tape and enjoy!

I love the idea of using cardboard cylinders tp or paper towel rolls to make firecracker type prizes! Thats a great idea that I will certainly try to use in the future!

I really think this a creative idea. If you are going to have a 4th of July party they really offer alot of creative ideas to use. I am going to use many of these for my party this 4th! -Juicy Bunch Member
