Be My Valentine Heart Frame

User Ratings: **No StarNo StarNo Star

Help your child express his or her thoughts from the heart by making this collage and frame. It's a wonderful way to give Valentine wishes to that special someone, like grandma or grandpa.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 1 - 12 by 12 sheet of purple construction paper
  • 1 - 12 by 12 sheet of red construction paper
  • 2 - 12 by 12 sheets of pink construction paper
  • Safety scissors
  • 1 sheet of thin (1/8 inch) purple craft foam
  • 1 sheet of thin (1/8 inch) pink craft foam
  • 1 sheet of thick (1/4 inch) craft foam (pink or purple)

HOW TO DO IT

  • Print out the templates. (Template #1, Template #2, Template #3)
  • Select several old magazines to cut out words and letters for your collage. Find words and phrases to describe the person in the frame or choose general Valentine wishes.
  • Cut the large heart from purple construction paper. Use a craft glue stick to glue the heart to the piece of pink construction paper.
  • Cut several small hearts from red and pink construction paper.
  • Cut out the pieces of the frame and piece together according to the diagram. Glue together with a craft glue gun.
  • Glue the frame to the center of the construction paper heart.
  • Glue a small red craft foam heart to the lower left corner of the frame.
  • Arrange the words and phrases cut from the magazines on the large heart, around the frame. Use a glue stick to secure them.
  • Select a photo for your frame and cut it into a 3.25 x 3.25 inch square. Slide it into the frame.

TIPS

  • The frame can be made without the large heart collage. Just cut a piece of construction paper to the side of the frame and glue the frame to it. This will finish off the back of the frame.

It would be very helpful to include photos of the finished product as an aid to the instructions!
