Create a "New Year's Resolutions for Kids" list with your kids. First, it's important that your kids know what resolutions are, and how long they are usually kept. Then, brainstorm some realistic resolutions with your kids-ones you, and they, feel confident they can stick to. Don't forget to set a timeline for each resolution.
Explain to your kids that New Year's resolutions give people the opportunity to improve themselves. And, be sure your kids know that if they slip up, it's okay-they haven't failed. As long as they try, that's what counts.

Hang your list on the refrigerator or in your kids' rooms. Another approach is to write each resolution on a note card and sprinkle them into your child's day. For example, you might place a note in your child's lunchbox, write a message on the bathroom mirror or leave your child a friendly text message or voice mail.
