A New Year, A New Resolution

TOOLS & TEMPLATES

Create a "New Year's Resolutions for Kids" list with your kids. First, it's important that your kids know what resolutions are, and how long they are usually kept. Then, brainstorm some realistic resolutions with your kids-ones you, and they, feel confident they can stick to. Don't forget to set a timeline for each resolution.

Explain to your kids that New Year's resolutions give people the opportunity to improve themselves. And, be sure your kids know that if they slip up, it's okay-they haven't failed. As long as they try, that's what counts.

Print our complete resolution list to help you get started.

Hang your list on the refrigerator or in your kids' rooms. Another approach is to write each resolution on a note card and sprinkle them into your child's day. For example, you might place a note in your child's lunchbox, write a message on the bathroom mirror or leave your child a friendly text message or voice mail.

Everyday one of my children takes a turn picking out a vegetable from the cupboard or freezer for main meal of our dayweekends its usually midday, weekdays its supper. That way each child has had their turn in having their favorite veggie and is expected to eat it without debate.

I think it is nice to start kids with resolutions.. but it might be little bit hard for them to understand the whole concept.. particularly for the younger kids
