Bio:

Debbie Drown has been an educator in the State of Maryland for 31 years. As a graduate of Frostburg State University in Maryland, she began her career as a fifth grade teacher in a suburb of Baltimore. After obtaining a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, she moved on to become an assistant principal and then principal.

Over the course of her career, Debbie has worked with children from Pre-Kindergarten age to fifth grade and has worked extensively with special education programs. She has also worked to build family involvement in schools through a variety of programs and initiatives.

Her work as a principal has been recognized by the Washington Post with Excellence in Educational Leadership Award, and by the National Association of Elementary School Principals with the National Distinguished Principal Award. Currently, Debbie is the Executive Director of the Maryland Association of Elementary School Principals, a professional association that provides professional development and advocacy for Maryland's principals, assistant principals and aspiring leaders.
