Expert Advice for Preschool

Is there such a thing as too much of a good thing? My son's preschool serves kiwi fruits for snack. Most of the children leave them on their plate – or give them to my son who loves them.  On kiwi day, he must eat 6-10!

- Patricia, Chicago, IL

Dr. Yinka Davies, Pediatrician, Mother of Two, says:

It is important to look at the big picture and ask yourself a few questions. Is he still eating other foods or is this kiwi intake preventing an otherwise healthy diet? Is he getting kiwi everyday or is it once a week? Are their any negative side effects such as a rash or diarrhea? If there are no negative consequences and he is eating an otherwise healthy diet, getting a substantial amount of kiwi every so often is not going to do any harm. Eventually he will grow out of this phase and his kiwi intake on kiwi day will reduce (or whatever the food may be!).
