Expert Advice for Toddler

Are flashcards good for toddlers? My sister-in-law is teaching their child Japanese!

- Tracy, Richmond, VA

Jeff Winckler, Educator, Father, says:

I think that picture cards are more appropriate for a toddler than flashcards.  For a toddler, picture imagery is much more in-line with a toddler's cognitive development than information on most flashcards.  The spoken word, when used with the picture, will allow for some early vocabulary development and help your toddler connect to the world around them.
