Expert Advice for Preschool

I love to cook, and I'd like to teach my 3 ½ year old daughter about nutrition by teaching her to cook. How can I make the experience safe and entertaining?

Carol A. Savage, M.S., R.D., Registered Dietitian, Mother of Two, says:

Start by planning your shopping trip for supplies. Let your daughter make suggestions and then shop. You might want to pre cut some items that require a sharp knife, but let your daughter mix and match. A fun activity would be to make a pizza. Mix a whole wheat dough and add vegetables and left over meats. Have fun grating the cheese and completing her own "special" pizza. You can also make pizzas with English muffins and tortillas.
