How can I get my daughter to brush her teeth? She hates it!

Debbie Drown, Educator, Principal, says:

This is a typical problem for young children. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Make toothbrushing a family affair. Have a contest to see who can brush the best.
  2. Let your daughter pick out several toothbrushes that have her favorite characters on them.
  3. Play her favorite song and have her brush to the beat of the music until the song is over.
  4. Set up a chart that allows her to earn stickers for each time she brushes well. A certain number of stickers may earn a reward.
  5. Purchase one of the rechargeable toothbrushes that have timers on them to let children know when they've brushed for the right amount of time.
