Nestlé Introduces First-Ever Fruit & Veggie Juice for Kids
May 03, 2007
GLENDALE, Calif., ( May 3, 2007) / PRNewswire / -- Moms have a new ally to help increase their kids' fruit and vegetable servings. Nestlé has introduced Nestlé Juicy Juice Harvest Surprise, the first 100 percent fruit and vegetable juice made especially for kids.
According to the American Dietetic Association (ADA), 70 percent of kids age 2-9 are not consuming the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables.(1)
According to a new Nestlé survey, 69 percent of moms believe their children should eat more vegetables, and more than 50 percent say increasing their kids' vegetable intake is a nutritional priority.(2) The majority of moms (57 percent) say that "taste" is the biggest barrier when it comes to their child's vegetable consumption.
Flavor is number one when it comes to kids, which is why parents need to find new, delicious ways to get more fruits and vegetables into their kids' diets," said author and family nutrition expert Liz Weiss, MS, RD. "With Nestlé Juicy Juice Harvest Surprise, moms have an easy way to give their kids some additional fruit and vegetable nutrition with a taste they'll enjoy."
An eight-ounce glass of Nestlé Juicy Juice Harvest Surprise provides two combined servings of fruits and vegetables (two-third serving of vegetables and one and one-third servings of fruit). Nestlé Juicy Juice Harvest Surprise is available in two kid-friendly flavors -- Grape and Tropical Punch -- and is made from vegetables and fruits such as carrots, sweet potatoes, grapes and apples. In addition, Nestlé Juicy Juice Harvest Surprise provides 120 percent of the daily value of Vitamin C, as well as other important nutrients like beta carotene, which is essential for good vision.
Available in grocery stores nationwide, Nestlé Juicy Juice Harvest Surprise is sold in 46 oz. plastic bottles ($3.29 suggested retail price). Parents can visit www.harvestsurprise.com for more information, as well as healthy eating tips, activities and recipes.
